Meet the Founders

The founders of Allay have a sincere passion for helping others. Holding many different roles in many locations and settings, both of Allay’s founders wanted to make a change in the clinical world of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) - to ensure individuals and their families receive excellent treatment in the environments that are most suited for them and clinicians are treated with dignity, respect, and feel valued.

Dr. Alyssa Bates is a doctorate level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D). She received her bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from West Liberty University, and advanced degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Pittsburgh (M.Ed.) and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (PhD).

She has worked with a wide range of individuals across the lifespan with emotional/behavioral disorders, mental health disorders, autism, intellectual disability, and other developmental disabilities. Her career began in high-acuity settings including both a specialized inpatient hospital unit (The John Merck Program of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), and residential settings for children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. Alyssa has always felt drawn to helping others, which has led her to travel on mission trips both internationally and within her immediate community. In developing the vision for Allay, helping those in need within her community was of the utmost importance and continues to be a driving force in her work.

Outside of her valuable time at Allay, Dr. Alyssa loves spending time with her husband, her two pups, going to the beach and exploring beautiful St. Augustine.

Ryan’s journey with providing ABA therapy began within a nonprofit over 10 years ago. His journey includes experience working with clients with vast and varying ages, abilities, and behaviors in several settings including home, school, and center based therapy. He has held several titles including RBT, Classroom Instructor, School Counselor, BCBA, and Clinical Director all while continuing to work with individuals with disabilities.

Ryan began his career in Ohio and transitioned to Florida in 2015 but has more recently settled in the great city of St. Augustine. Ryan has always had a big heart and cares about the well being of others. His goal is to collect all of his positive experiences over the years and apply that to Allay Behavioral Therapy and continue to provide excellent ethical services and having a well balanced clinic.

He loves spending time with his wife and his 4 yr old daughter, correction 4.6 years old (she wanted you to know). They enjoy playing games, going to the beach, and to various playgrounds in the area.
